Early September, the town of Silvan lights up with a staggering half a million plus tulips of various hues and colours. The Tesselaar Tulip Festival held since 1954 has wholesome fun for the whole family with cuisine from across the globe, tractor rides and live entertainment.
Bright Spring Festival, Victoria
Come late October and early November, the town of Bright, Victoria truly lives up to its name. It becomes a huge kaleidoscope of colours with a large number of gardens to admire. Visitors can talk directly to the owners and take expert tips on gardening techniques. It has been on for nearly three decades now and includes fetes, fireworks, fairs and food events.
Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, Queensland
In normal times too, Toowoomba is known as the “Garden City” and hence it is but natural that it holds one of the most splendid flower carnivals in spring in Australia. The festival is almost seven decades old and for 10 days at the end of September, the town is abuzz with “green garden tours” to showcase the floral displays, food and wine events, fashion shows and train rides.
Renmark Rose Festival, South Australia
Renmark is known as the Rose Capital of Australia and by October this beautiful Murray River town is ablaze in a riot of colours from varied hued roses. Must visit during the festival is the Ruston’s Rose Garden that houses the National Rose Collection. The festival is spread across many venues and visitors can wander around the gardens taking in the sights of brightly coloured roses.
